I do have all the problems like confusion, gastro problems, emotional disturbance, reoccurring infections, dizziness, headaches, loss of smell, loss of taste and a metallic taste when I wake up in the morning, problems with my nervous system, sight, hearing, rash, and I never thought it was through my complete hip replacement I had in Blackpool Victoria Lancashire UK.
I have had two of these faulty hips (2006 & 2010) in Spain. So far have had 1 revision, the other is still under review. I am 59 now, this has completely messed up my life with no remorse from the company. Just hoops to jump through. Other patients known to me in Spain have had such devastating injuries that one lady has no hip and due to the damage done to her, she will not be able to walk again. WHAT ARE THE PEOPLE BEING PAID TO CHECK THESE COMPANIES OUT ACTUALLY DOING FOR THEIR MONEY??
My mother had a hip replacement last July 2008. She has had pain ever since, the recent doctor she is seeing for pain management had tests done because one side seemed shorter than the other. Legs are of the same size but when unclothed, you can tell the hip replaced is higher than the other, and has the majority of the problems you listed above. It was a depuy, her doctor just put her off and said it was bursitis. She can only eat a little, losing weight and can hardly walk. Would she qualify under your suit?
I have had my original 3.5 year old DePuy ASR hip implant replaced about two months ago. DePuy is paying the cost of this replacement. My out-of-pocket expenses are being reduced (unreasonably I think), a claim for compensation is being handled by a UK solicitor who in my opinion is not really up to it. Part of the problem is that in the UK, the main consideration for compensation is loss of future earnings. I am retired (66 years old) so that is not a large amount. In my case, it is really more to do with a significantly reduced quality of life for which I have worked towards since the age of 16. Also the extra work is now placing to my wife, plus of course possibly actual loss of some good health, plus the loss of ability to sail my boat, play golf, ride a bike, walk the dog etc. for at least a couple of years and in some cases longer. I would like to know if RLG has legal associates in the UK please.
I have a recalled DePuy hip replacement that looks perfect on xray. Does anyone else have this? Also I have an elevated chromium count. I would like to speak with others who are dealing with the complications of the DePuy recall.
I also was misdiagnosed for a few years (Depuy Pinnacle) 2005 hip replacement. Started having pains and started to develop a limp after 2 years.
I suggest having an Ortho Doctor do a blood test for chromium levels, if they are high that should throw up a red flag that something is wrong.....
My X-Rays also looked normal, until I had a revision done last year and they did not know the extent of the damage to the acetabular component. Mine was shrapnel and I had metalosis and severe swelling.
I think I was walking on it like that for over a year, with extreme pain at times.
What levels are truly high? My wife's Chromium and Cobalt levels are triple the norm. But the surgeon says that's not out of line!!!
Remember your surgeon is like a mechanic...fixes the problem you initially bring in but doesn't see the surrounding issues unless you make him. I had elevated cobalt levels, and many of the noted symptoms but all were attributed by my surgeon to something else...well of course, he put the defective part in many others and cant renege now..when I had my revision by another surgeon even though the xrays originally showed nothing wrong. My original part had loosened, my leg was filled with liquid from the constant metal on metal rubbing, and my part would have fallen apart if I didn't ignore my original Drs dismissal and went to someone else for the revision.
Read my comment dated 7/11. Mine said the same... Go to another surgeon. I did, had the revision and now six weeks later, no symptoms. The first surgeon was wrong.
I had my hip done originally in 2007, and here I am in 2012, and had to have my hip re-done, and the doctor said that once they were in there they could see where the metal had flaked off and caused massive problems to the surrounding bone areas. Whom should I contact about possible compensation? I am only 29 years old, and this has slowed me down significantly over the last few years.
I am suffering all the symptoms listed above and have again started awaking in the night with no feeling in my arms and legs. I have had to wait weeks for GP visits and also specialist appointments to deal with my Hip Implant problems. I had my left hip replaced with a faulty implant in July 2005. I had a total replacement in April of 2010. It was a depuy pinnacle. Have had issues ever since: pain, back pain, and Gastrointestinal problems.
I also had my right hip replaced in April 2010. I've been suffering with most of the symptoms listed; my surgeon says I am fine. I also had alot of spinal surgeries since 1986. This April was the first time I had an infection and had to have another surgery to clean out the infection in my cervical spine. I find it odd with all the spinal surgery I never had an infection and now after the Depuy Pinnacle Replacement with the metal liner. I live in severe pain, my hip feels worse now than I did before the surgery.
I had my original DePuy Pinnacle hip implant in Oct. 2008. Since then, I've had high cobalt/chromium levels, 5 dislocations, and 3 revision surgeries. I now have a "constrained" revision, which leaves me with permit ant restricted range of motion for my left leg. I am only 50 years old, & my life functioning is forever altered b/c of the FDA being paid-off by the J/J Corp. I have already filed a law suit-but no amount of $$ will compensate for the past 5 years of pain/suffering & future limitations in life functioning.
I have had two hip revisions since my total right hip replacement, the first replacement was in April 2010, then a revision May 2011, an another July 31, 2012.
I received a depuy pinnacle total hip replacement in November of 2005. By March of 2011, the stem was broken for no reason of my own and out needed to be revised. I had the hip revised and about 2 weeks later, I woke up in the middle of the night and my entire leg and hip area felt soaked. When I turned the light on it was all blood and an orange liquid. I went back to the hospital and was told I had caught a hospital born infection during surgery. Over the next year and a half and 9 more surgeries the infection never went away and I had to get that hip removed too! I was told by another doctor that this was my only option over a year before this doctor finally gave up and sent me to a doctor that could help me. I am now stuck in bed with no hip and pelvis in my body while the IV antibiotics kill the infection for 6 to 8 weeks. They had to remove anything metal from my left side because the infection sticks to the metal. After this I will be getting my 3rd 30 year hip in less than 7 years. So I ended up being lied to on so many occasions by the same doctor over and over again out makes me sick. Always remember... Doctors lie constantly thinking it's better that you don't know the truth about everything and anything.
