Adderall Side Effects

If you or a loved one has taken Adderall and believe it caused an injury, contact the Rottenstein Law Group for a free, confidential legal consultation.

Adderall Cardiac Side Effects

In 2005, Health Canada, that country’s public health department, suspended Adderall sales due to adverse event reports to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that 12 children died of sudden cardiac death. The FDA did not order an Adderall recall but instead investigated the cases. In December 2011, the FDA concluded its investigation and it failed to find an association between Adderall and sudden cardiac death. Nevertheless, the Adderall drug label contains a black box warning about potential cardiovascular side effects and sudden death. Adderall might cause the following:

  • Sudden death in children and adolescents with structural cardiac abnormalities;
  • Strokes, myocardial infarction, and sudden death in adults; and
  • Increased blood pressure and heart rate.
